When Tony and Karen Martingiglio saw the Phoenix bungalow that houses Cibo for the first time they fell in love with the grand old house thinking it would make for a wonderful and charming cafe. It needed lots of tender loving care but with the help of their son Michael, and Chef Guido their dream has become a reality. The past six years have been an amazing journey for all involved and it is amazing to see how the cafe started so humbly and now continues to evolve into their dreams.
After spending 16 years away from Phoenix Michael Krassner moved back to the Valley to open Cibo in the fall of 2004. His inspiration for Cibo was his love for the neighborhood restaurants in Chicago as well as the small pizzerias found in southern italy. The location for Cibo was very important and Michael felt the up and coming roosevelt district was the perfect place. A chance to bring the wonderful neighborhood back to its glory. Michael brings his knowledge of wine gained from years of working the famed Wine House in West LA. He also pays much attention to the music which he feels contributes greatly to the overall experience.
